Star Update: Kimora Simmons’ New Baby, Jackie Chan’s New Movie and John Mayer’s New TV Gig

It took about four months, but Kimora Lee Simmons finally got her wish–she is pregnant with Djimon Hounsou’s baby.

The happy couple just announced that they are expecting their first child together.

The 33-year-old fashion diva already has two daughters, Ming Lee, 8, and Aoki Lee, 6, with her former hip-hop mogul husband Russell Simmons, whom she officially divorced in 2008.

Kimora met Djimon in February 2007 and last summer she announced to the world that she and her hunky boy toy were trying to get pregnant.

Apparently, their practicing paid off.

JACKIE CHAN’S NEW MOVIE

Move over Pat Morita, Jackie Chan is getting ready to “wax on, wax off.”

According to reports, Chan is in talks with a movie studio to appear as Mr. Miyagi (originally played by Morita) in a remake of The Karate Kid.

If the rumors are true, Chan will join Will Smith’s son Jaden, who has already signed on to play Mr. Miyagi’s student. Smith’s role was originally played by Ralph Macchio in the 1984 classic.

Variety is reporting that the remake’s plot would be similar to the original except the movie will take place in China instead of California.

JOHN MAYER’S NEW TV GIG

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. Just ask John Mayer.

The singer’s first attempt at TV stardom failed a few years ago, but now reports say Mayer is being tapped to tape a pilot for a CBS variety show.

“He came to us,” CBS execs said of Mayer. “He has a very strong point of view. He knows his audience really well; he knows his brand of humor really well.”

The project is reportedly in the early stages of development, and Mayer is said to be “driving the creative development.”

Mayer fans may remember that the Grammy winner hosted a short-lived VH1 show in 2004 called John Mayer Has a TV Show.
