Star Updates: Twins and Tragedy

Somehow I don’t see a bidding war brewing for the first shots of Lisa Marie Presley’s twins.

Yes, the King of Rock and Roll’s daughter finally revealed that she is carrying twins, but no, you shouldn’t count on seeing the bouncing bundles of joy in a 19-page magazine spread a la Brangelina’s double blessing.

Lisa Marie’s mother Priscilla Presley was the one who spilled the beans to TV’s “Entertainment Tonight” saying that her daughter wanted to keep the news private as long as possible.

And who can blame her considering the drama she endured during her first trimester. Months ago the Daily Mail published a series of unflattering photographs of Lisa Marie dining with her mom and alleged that the only heir to Elvis’ fortune was “out of control fat.”

Lisa Marie sued for libel (at the time the pictures ran the media didn’t know she was pregnant) and the paper later apologized.

The singer followed up by saying, “Yes, I am swollen. And I am going to gain weight in a city where if you’re not a minus size 0, you are fat.”

The 40-year-old is expected to give birth in about three months. The new babies will join Presley’s two older children 19-year-old Riley and 15-year-old Benjamin who she had with ex-husband Danny Keough. The twins’ father is Presley’s current husband Michael Lockwood.

Former TV politico Robert Novak just announced that he has retired — effective immediately.

The political columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times and former CNN commentator was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor and now doctors say his condition is “dire,” according to sources close to Novak.

According to reports, the 77-year-old conservative is planning to undergo radiation and chemotherapy, but his prognosis doesn’t look promising.

Novak made headlines just a couple of weeks ago (prior to his diagnosis) for hitting a pedestrian in a Washington, D.C. crosswalk. At the time he told police he didn’t see the person he hit and that’s why he didn’t stop his vehicle.
