Looking for a fast and easy way to add stitching to your scrapbook pages without the use of a sewing machine? You may want to think about using rub on stitching. Rub on stitching is fun way to achieve that stitched look.
In an earlier article, I introduced several companies that sell stitching stamps. You can click here to read it. Now I am going to let you know about some fun rub on stitching products.
Here are a few different stitches rub ons that I have found.
K&Company Studio K Rub-on Stitches & Ribbons .
These are full-color rub-ons that come on an 8″ x 11″ sheet with both stitches and ribbon rub-ons. These retail for $3.99. I like that you get the variety of both ribbon and stitches on one sheet. I found these at archivers.com.
Seven Gypsies Stitchies Rubbings. These come on a 5” x 8” page with a variety of rub ons that include stitches, ric rac, rulers and more. This is a nice set with good variety. Each sheet retails for $2.99.
Die Cuts with a View also offers rub on stitching. You can buy it in three different color options: black, white or multi colors.
If you want to really achieve that “sewn on” look with these stitching rub ons, after applying the rub on, use a paper piercer to poke a small hole along with stitch at each point where the sewing machine needle would have moved up and down on the paper. This may be too much work, after all, we are using the stitches to save time! But it could be a nice technique to use on special projects.
Another option to consider when wanted the stitched look is to create your own handwritten stitches with pens or markers. This is a nice option because you will have more color options and can perfectly coordinate the stitch color with your layout.
