Fall is one of the cheapest seasons to travel abroad. If you have always dreamed of exploring London, Paris or Rome, but were afraid booking a trip would drain your bank account, now is the time to act. Vacations to European destinations drop substantially once kids head back to school.
According to Expedia.com, round-trip airfare to London during October and November is running about $80 cheaper than just a month ago. Meanwhile, perennial fan favorites, Paris and Rome can be visited for rock-bottom prices starting the second week in November. However, the cheapest destinations of Europe remain in Germany, Ireland and Spain where airfare prices are running about 10-15% less than London, Paris and Rome.
Once you have arrived at your foreign dream destination, another way you can save money is to experiment with local menus. These days you don’t have to look very hard to find reasonably priced meal options that include regional fare. McDonald’s is making sure of that.
The popular fast-food giant recently announced that it plans to open its first vegetarian-only restaurant near the Golden Temple in the Sikh holy city of Amritsar in northern India early next year. With more than 33,500 outlets in 119 countries, McDonald’s has learned to offer cheap local eats to attract residents and visitors alike. For example, in Marrakesh, Morocco, and Dubai, U.A.E you can get a pita-wrapped, herb-rubbed lamb kebab at McDonald’s. Meanwhile, in France, the M Burger is a huge crowd pleaser with the locals and tourists. It features an all-beef patty, plus tangy, natural Emmenthal cheese served on a Ciabatta-style roll baked in a stone oven. In India, you can order the McAloo Tikki burger made from potatoes instead of beef and the Chicken Maharaja Mac. Finally, in Japan you can make like the locals and pig out on Ume Nuggets (Chicken McNuggets with sour plum sauce) and seaweed French fries.
