Suggested Reading List for Kindergarteners
During the Kindergarten years, children should be exposed to many books. You can help children to understand that stories have a beginning, middle, and an ending. After reading stories to kindergarteners, try having them tell the story back to you in their own words. Some other useful activities are to have them develop alternate endings for the stories. Puppet shows are great for enhancing story time and you can often find inexpensive puppets at dollar stores. Let the children use the puppets after story time to re tell their stories.
