Summertime Fun in the Pool

Do you want to make the most out of your swimming pool? Do you frequently have pool parties and want to learn more games to play? We have some great options to make every pool party or Saturday afternoon swim something special. The first game is called Colors. For this, you choose one person to be the catcher. This individual gets out of the pool and turns his or her back toward the pool. The remaining people in the water will choose a color.

After a minute of the catcher having his or her back to the pool, he/she will finally call out, “Does everyone have their colors?” If so, the catcher starts by calling out colors such as blue, green, and red. As a player’s color is called out by the catcher, the player must swim very quietly across the pool, trying not to be heard. If the catcher hears any splash or movement, he/she can turn around to see who is swimming. Now, if the player reaches the other side of the pool before the catcher turns around, he/she is safe. If not, the player must trade places with the catcher, now becoming the catcher at which time the game starts again.

Another great pool game is called Pairs. For this game, players need to partner with someone. Then, the goal is for the pairs to try to swim as pairs but using just one arm and leg of each person. In other words, the person on the right would use only the right arm and leg while the person on the left uses only the left arm and leg. Holding onto each other and trying to coordinate movement, the goal is to be the first pair to swim from the deep to shallow end.

Then, you can play some diving games, giving out small prizes for the person with the most retrieved items. Making sure objects are dropped in the shallow end or mid-section of the pool away from the bottom filter, you would place certain objects such as keys, coins, or special toys made to sink. Then, you put one player on one side of the pool and another player on the other side of the pool.

Counting down to three, both players take off to try to retrieve as many of the objects in the shortest amount of time possible. As you can see, you can turn an ordinary swimming party into something unique and fun. You can do a search on any search engine such as Google.com for additional games. People coming to your home for a weekend barbecue will look forward to the new list of games to play.
