Super Deal from Kraft at Kroger

I love Superbowl Sunday. No, not because of the football game. Though I’d like to watch the Colts win, I’ll be camping with the Scout troop instead. I love it because there are always good grocery store sales!

One of this week’s best deals in my area is at QFC/Kroger. Not only has Kraft reduced prices for the week, but they’re also offering $8 off the purchase of any eight items that are pink tagged (the pink tag is a participating Kraft Game Day Essential item).

My son nicely volunteered me to shop for the campout. We have a rule that if the kids volunteer Mom or Dad, they get to do as much of the work as possible. They get a small set amount and they have to purchase the meals out of that. Anything above the cost is the Scout’s (read, “parent’s”) responsibility. I’ve had enough “responsibility” lately and so admonished him to stay close to the budget.

I’m teaching him to be a Frugal Prince, and I’m so very proud of him! Here’s what he bought yesterday:

  • Nabisco Cheese Nips (2 boxes) – $1.88 x2 = $3.76
  • Capri Suns (2 boxes) – $1.99 x 2 = $3.98
  • Kraft American Cheese [food] Singles (2 packs) – $2.49 x 2 = $4.98

He still needed two more items for the special, and asked me if I needed any cream cheese. At $1.49, that’s not too bad a price, so I agreed to take two on his count. He added in some lean burger on sale for $1.99/lb (from $3.79/lb), and some bananas that were on special for 39 cents/lb.

The Kraft deal came out to $4.72 for his share. He’s beaming because they’ll be eating so much better than the rest of the patrols on the campout (they all had the same amount of cash). I’m beaming because it appears that the little Prince may soon surpass the Queen on the frugality scale!

The purchases must be made by the 4th of January, and all in one transaction using your card. He has his own card with “Loyal Customer” instead of any information. I used mine right after him for a similar deal with no problem. I asked and the checker said it was one per transaction, and as long as he wasn’t busy, he was happy to ring me through as many transactions as I want. I’ll be back tomorrow with cash and coupons in hand!

Below is a list of some of the participating products. There are others throughout the store. These are the ones in my ad. Prices are before discount. Your net will be a dollar less (or more with coupons):

  • Philly Cream Cheese $1.49
