Stop the presses! Baby Cruise has been seen… and held by someone other than her parents (and nannies). It seems tongue-in-cheek, but for a while after her much awaited birth, little Suri Cruise, the love child of superstar Tom Cruise and actress Katie Holmes, was considered “untouchable.” Untouchable, unseen, and unavoidably the subject of the tabloids, which questioned whether Baby Cruise in fact existed. Suri was born in Los Angeles on April 18, but as of today, she has yet to be seen in public. But, there may be hope for you (ok, me too) Cruise fans waiting to see the product of rather a fabulous gene pool. Perhaps, the media scrutiny finally got to the proud parents because not long after reports surfaced questioning Cruise and Holmes’ decision to keep their daughter out of the public eye, the couple’s celebrity friends began speaking out about their Suri encounters.
First it was actress and fellow Scientologist Leah Remini who told reporters that she had not only gotten to see the latest member of the Cruise clan, but also spent time rocking the “dark-haired beauty.” A few days later actress Jada Pinkett Smith reported seeing Suri at the Cruise-Holmes mansion in Los Angeles. When questioned by members of the media both actresses gushed about the littlest Cruise. Pinkett Smith described Suri as “one of the sweetest babies I’ve ever met in my life,” while Remini said the baby “looks like Tom and Katie, she’s just beautiful.”
And, today a real shocker—another Suri sighting–this one from a surprising (at least in my opinion) guest… Penelope Cruz. That’s right, Penelope Cruz, as in ex-girlfriend of Tom Cruise. Whoa! I didn’t even know Cruz was still speaking to Cruise, let alone coming over to visit his child with another woman. Cruz and Cruise dated from 2001 to 2004, and by all accounts seemed to have parted amicably. But, rarely (especially in Hollywood) do former lovers show up on their ex’s doorstep with gifts and well wishes. (Am I the only one who finds this a bit strange?)
Cruz declined to provide details of the visit, but did tell reporters that Suri was a special baby. “She’s really beautiful. She’s one of the most beautiful babies I’ve ever seen.”
