Television in Your Bedroom: Yes or No?

As a society most people feel the need to be entertained. Children are not as in tune with pretend play as they once were. We need video games, television, computers, and more. Most people do not even go for a jog anymore without their ipod.

Therefore it is no surprise that televisions are typically everywhere in our homes. They can be seen in the kitchen as well as the family room. In fact while searching for hotels, one that I saw advertised that the suites even had a television in the bathroom.

Many newly married couples struggle with whether or not to have a television in their bedroom. Some believe that a television in the bedroom will be a distraction for intimacy and communication. They fear that their spouse will be more interested in watching a show than giving them the attention. In some cases this is a legitimate fear.

Other couples have no doubt that they will definitely need a television in the bedroom. They have shows and movies that they like to watch and want the late night comfort of the bed.

I have been in many homes of married couples. I have seen television in bedrooms in some of them and others comment that they would not allow a television in the bedroom.

For the couples who do not wish to have a television in the bedroom it seems that it is typically the wife that has the strongest feelings against it.

Whether or not you have a television in your bedroom is a decision that you should make together as a couple. If you are not comfortable with a television invading on your private personal couple space then you should not consider installing one.

If you do decide to have a television in your room, give it a chance. If it begins to take time away from you and your mate, you may want to reconsider its location. Perhaps it would be better if it were moved into a different room.
