Ten Reasons I love being a Parent of Preschooler

1. Keeps you young. Having a little one around keeps me active. It also keeps me enjoying activities like going to the zoo, the park, or just exploring the back yard. Even the books and lessons of a preschooler will help you feel young. You have to be in good shape to chase an active preschooler around.

2. Love all the fun kid stuff. I am a kid at heart so I love the crafts, toys, and cute movies. I have seen the Toy Story movies about 20 times each after having four children….maybe more. I still love it. I find the toys amusing and the crafts delightful.

3. Every place you go is like an event. When you go anywhere you have to plan ahead, find the nearest bathroom, and keep snacks on hand. I find that adorable although not so much so when I had my two older kids. I suppose reliving the experience is sweeter. It is also fun to get cups and balloons from every restaurant you go to. It’s like a celebration of childhood every where you go.

4. Love the cute things they say. The cute things they say are priceless. Enough said.

5. The fresh little pair of eyes on the world. Everything that seems old and faded to us is new and bright to them. It is nice to have the reminder.

6. I’m still into Goldfish crackers. Yes, I am a Goldfish cracker fan. I just don’t think I could eat them if a preschooler wasn’t in my midst.

7. Simple fun is the best fun of all. Having two older kids who either don’t know what there is to do or desire to do expensive things it is nice to be reminded that a sandbox in the backyard is a thrilling experience.

8. The hugs and kisses. Yep, enough said.

9. Very forgiving spirit. Let’s face it, we mess up as parents. We get stressed and make mistakes or lose our tempers when we shouldn’t. Little ones are always willing to forgive and love you. Let’s not take advantage but respect that tender heart and be forgiving right back.

10. Cuteness so helps when the fussing starts. Kids at 12 whining about doing the dishes is no where near as cute as a sad face of a small child who wanted the chocolate cupcake and not the vanilla one. We should never entertain fussing but it helps that the cuteness is there to temper the frustration.
