That New Car Smell

It’s been so warm here lately and every day I see people at the car wash, I really should wash my car as well, maybe tomorrow. My car is a mess, I’m not very good about making sure it gets washed in the winter. Having a clean car is probably even more important in the winter, all the wet weather and road dirt gets on your windows and once the sun hits them you can’t see a thing.

I took my car through the car wash, even though it’s been warm, it’s not warm enough to go to a self serve car wash and wash it. Once the outside was clean it made me realize how dirty the windows were on the inside.

I always clean my car windows with vinegar on a microfiber cloth. Vinegar is great it not only cuts through the road dirt on the outside of the windows and the fingerprints on the inside, it dries without streaking. As an added bonus, if I wipe down the dash and the console it helps eliminate any odors that are hanging around.

After winter is over the carpets will need a good cleaning, there’s no point right now, everyone who gets in the car has wet shoes. I love detailing the inside of the car, it smells so much better. I try to only use vinegar and water, I even put it in a spray bottle and spray it in the car instead of air freshener. The car smells a little like vinegar but if I park it with the windows rolled down a little the smell goes away and takes all the other odors with it.

A friend of mine told me about Hot Shot, it’s an aerosol stain remover and it works great on the carpet in your car, this stuff will get out just about anything. I can’t wait until the weather warms up enough to clean the carpet and seats. It will be almost like having a new car.
