The Biggest Loser – 138 pounds???

I wasn’t surprised this week when the Biggest Loser participants lost a lot of weight. Even though in normal circumstances, a weight loss as big as 7 pounds after week three would be considered a miracle, these folks are living and breathing their fitness plan. But still, I wasn’t prepared to see the Blue team members lose as much as they did. After all, two of them couldn’t train with Bob all week, and the other two had to eat out all week!

To have them still lose an average of 13 pounds each was astounding. It showed their dedication, their drive, and their intense desire to succeed, to keep going even in the face of adversity. I admit, I was a proud watcher last night. I felt their success and vowed yet again to get my own butt off the couch and move more, to make the right eating choices, and to not give up this time.

Seeing Ken go was a bit of a shocker. It made sense strategy wise, though. And the biggest shocker of the night came at the end of the show when they showed Ken’s progress. 138 pounds down since he started at the ranch…68 of those pounds were lost at the ranch while the other 70 were lost at home. My mouth nearly dropped to the floor when I saw him. And to know that his wife had jumped on the fitness bandwagon with him, and had lost 50 pounds herself since his return was nothing short of inspirational.

I know some people don’t watch the Biggest Loser because the thought of seeing overweight people having to wear tight spandex seems wrong somehow. But watching their progress, seeing them succeed, is giving thousands of people the initiative to change their own lives.

This viewer will definitely keep watching…will you?
