The Christmas Wedding by James Patterson and Richard DiLallo

As much fun as Christmas is imagine if you added a wedding to Christmas day. That’s exactly what Gaby Summerhill does. Gaby’s husband died three years ago and she has worked through her grief and is ready to do something for herself.

Every day she feeds the homeless breakfast in her barn, she is active in the community and in many organizations, she has raised four wonderful kids and now it’s her turn.

Three men have proposed to Gaby and she loves a mystery. Gaby’s children have not all been together since their father passed away so she comes up with the idea of a Christmas wedding to get everyone together again.

One thing Gaby doesn’t do is tell anyone who she is marrying, including the man she picked. Every one knows about the wedding and the men have all agreed to wait until the wedding day to find out who will be the lucky man.

Gaby is the matriarch of her family that we all want to be. Her children and grandchildren adore her and more importantly, they respect her and the influence she has in their lives.

All her children are adults with children of their own, and in the course of the book you meet all of them, along with the challenges they face in their lives.

This book draws you into Gaby’s family. Your heart breaks for Claire, you rejoice with Emily, pray for Lizzie and Mike and wish you had a son like Seth.

Although Gaby is the main character each of her children and grandchildren plays an important part of the story and you get to know them all. By the end of the book these people are your friends and you couldn’t be happier for them and the twists and turns Christmas day takes.

This book is a quick read and one you won’t forget anytime soon.
