The Courage to Live Your Convictions

It can be difficult to have the courage to stand up for your beliefs. When you are young, you are afraid that others will make fun of you for acting the way you do. When you are older you may be afraid of offending or that others may think that you are judging them. Either way it is important to stand for your beliefs.

Often when you stand for the things you believe in you are simply living the gospel. Your decision to abstain from smoking and coffee will be noticed by others. You may have a discussion about it. The fact that you do not use vulgar language will likely be noticed as well. Your kind actions towards others will be observed. These are easy quiet ways to stand up for your beliefs.

There may come a time when you need to stand up for your beliefs vocally. This can be more difficult to do. You need to be firm with your convictions, but at the same time you do not want to be offensive. One of the best ways to handle this situation is to simply bear your testimony about why you believe the way you do. This may lead to an in-depth discussion or it may end the discussion all together.

The way you live your life is the best way to stand for your beliefs. As members of the church it is important to know that our lives are our testimonies. We need to live our lives in line with the commandments. It is important to live in line with our convictions. Members of the church should be quiet examples of righteous living.

It is important to realize that our daily little actions are just as important as the larger ones. We are being watched all the time, especially by our children. In reality this may be the most important reason that you live your life in accordance with your beliefs.
