The Pets Blog Week in Review for Apr 9-15

This week guest blogger Heather Long (whose regular blogs you may have read in Marriage and Fitness) joined Aimee and myself here in the Pets Blog. We covered a lot, so without further ado, here’s what we covered on:

Monday, April 9

Unfortunately, I reported the tragedy of the Jacksonville Humane Society burning to the ground after a friend back in Jacksonville emailed to tell me about it. Aimee was chalk full of helpful tips for moving with small/exotic pets.

Tuesday, April 10

It’s Prevent Cruelty to Animals Month. Did you get your orange on for ASCPA day to show your support? Aimee explained how knowing a pet’s personality can help when they’re lost.

Wednesday, April 11

I paid tribute to Murphy, Mr. Meow, and Tabby in honor of Pets Are Wonderful Month. In Pet First Aid: Asthma Attacks, Aimee covered the signs of, what to do during, and how to prevent future attacks.

Thursday, April 12

On this date in 1912 the Titanic sunk. I paid tribute to the animals aboard Titanic in memoriam. Aimee gave us some great pointers for recognizing and treating signs of pain in our pets.

Friday, April 13

The recent pet food recall had a lot of pet owners up in arms. If you’re one of them, I interviewed Ron Smith of PETitionz.org: your link to voicing pet food recall concerns. Aimee talked about dividing pills for pets to ensure they get the proper dosing, and also to make giving them their medication easier.

Saturday, April 14

In keeping with April being Animal Cruelty Prevention Month, Aimee posed some questions and answers about chaining. (A very cruel practice indeed, but one that’s easily remedied.)

Sunday, April 15

What all is involved in horse auctions? More than you might think. Aimee filled us in. Heather’s nephew just got a new puppy, one that’s still yet to be named. Just how important are names and how do you decide? That’s what Heather addressed in New Puppy: What’s in a Name?
