The Pets Blog Week in Review for Sep 3-9

Happy Monday! With the passing of Labor Day, the inevitable end of summer is drawing yet nearer. Maybe you were busy last week taking a late summer vacation, or perhaps you were adjusting to the back-to-school grind, and missed portions of the Pets Blog. Never fear, Aimee and I are here with a review of what we wrote on:

Monday, September 3

Ah, Labor Day. Ever since 1999 I’ve never viewed them quite the same. Then came the summer of 2004, where Murphy and Kitty and a hurricane name Frances had a lot of fun.

Tuesday, September 4

In memory of Steve Irwin’s death on September 4, Colleen Paige started National Wildlife Day. Using a few of hers and some of mine, I gave suggestions for ways you could help celebrate it. I also honored the day by writing about some animals on my mind, ones both close to home and in a land far, far away.

Wednesday, September 5

In Part I of Sleuths and Guide Dogs: The Many “Eyes” of Joani Ascher, I introduced you to mystery writer Joani Ascher who raises Seeing Eye puppies. In Part II she told us about her personal pets as well as the ones she includes in her fiction. Wouldn’t you know that crazy Moose inspired yet another blog for Aimee? This time after a walk along a hill Aim found herself applying pet first aid to a sticky situation.

Thursday, September 6

In Part I of my conversation with Pop ARF artist Nathan Janes we talked about all things Pop ARF. In Part II we got a little more personal and talked about his pets and the charities his work has benefited. Aimee addressed the importance of grooming matted hair and how to do it yourself if you decide not to enlist the help of a professional.

Friday, September 7

What happens when dog meets toad? Sometimes the toad ends up in the mouth…and sometimes this can result in toad poisoning for pooch. Because the 7th is Wayne’s birthday, Murphy, Kitty, and Tabby went in pursuit of the perfect birthday card for their papa.

Saturday, September 8

Aimee covered a list of tick-borne diseases that can affect your pet if a tick is left to host on them. (Ick! I hate ticks!)

Sunday, September 9

Ah, a blessed day of rest to prepare for the week ahead.
