The Rich Get Richer

Just when I think I have a firm grasp on the way the world works—BAM! Tori Spelling’s mom wins the lottery. Okay, not exactly the lottery, but Candy Spelling did hit the jackpot during a recent trip to Las Vegas—-more than once.

Get this: A few days ago Tori’s millionaire mom (the widow of gazillionaire TV mogul Aaron Spelling) reportedly cashed in while playing the $100 slot machines at the Bellagio Hotel and took home $100,000. But her luck didn’t end there. According to news reports, Spelling continued to win, eventually raking in more than $300,000. By the end of her two-day high rolling spree she left “Sin City” with $200,000. Okay, so she lost a few rounds, but did I mention she also walked away with a new car.

Spelling was reportedly hosting a raffle for her after school charity and bought one raffle ticket for each member of her staff, including herself. I guess when it rains it pours because Spelling ended up having the winning ticket and claimed the grand prize—a Toyota Prius. The socialite told reporters she intends to keep the new wheels. Never mind that she already has a convoy of vehicles and is worth an estimated $300 million.

Geez, I can’t even scrounge up enough coins to buy a lottery ticket and Mrs. Richie Rich needs a new car to haul home her winnings…

But Spelling is not the only one in Hollywood rolling in dough. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Greg Kinnear and Maura Tierney will be taking home hefty paychecks now that they have joined the cast of “Baby Mama.”

The flick also stars Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Sigourney Weaver in a tale about a single woman (Fey) whose wants to have a child, but doesn’t want to give up her career so she decides to hire a surrogate mother (Poehler).

Also, add William Hurt to the list of celebs who will not have to worry about where their next meal will be coming from. The actor recently joined the cast of “The Incredible Hulk.” The Oscar winner joins Edward Norton (Bruce Banner) and Liv Tyler (who plays Banner’s love interest Betty Ross). Hurt will reportedly play Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, the man who is trying to capture the Hulk and who is also Betty’s father. The movie is slated to hit theaters next summer.
