The Third Week Post-Partum

My third week post-partum began on the cusp of New Years and New Years Eve festivities. In the midst of healing and napping, combined with my every day house hold tasks, I some how found the time and motivation to finally buy the boots I wanted to get while I was pregnant. Perhaps it was a good thing that I waited until after my daughter was born. The boots became my first clothing purchase post-partum and my first mini celebration (I am still not ready to try on skinny jeans). It is rather strange how buying clothes gives a person a boost and it is simply a fact that shoes always fit (even though jeans do not …. yet).

Needless to say, my three week post-partum gift to self was a pair of high heeled suede insulated and waterproof boots. I found my first occasion to wear said boots (unfortunately with my maternity skinny jeans again), to our annual New Year’s Eve celebration. For that same occasion, our daughter was dressed up in her first party dress complete with sparkly tights (which were far too big even though they were size 0-6 months) wintry and sparkly cardigan and hat (she was far better dressed than I was). We toasted the New Year with Mimosas which is really the only alcoholic beverage I drink and I only drink it twice a year (New Year’s and our anniversary). It was a perfectly delectable way to start the New Year.

The week progressed with lots of food and family. I have not been keeping my food journal since my daughter was born and at this point I am not really worried, I eat when I am hungry. While not having to worry about exercising has been nice, at three weeks post-partum I am feel like I could handle a good workout. However, my midwife has forbidden me to start exercising again until at least four weeks post-partum. So here I am three weeks post-partum ready to get my figure back and willing to do the work necessary to achieve just that!
