Three Kitchen Gadgets I Can’t Cook Without – Part 2

Yesterday I blogged about three kitchen gadgets that I could but didn’t want to cook without. Those gadgets are my salad spinner, my small plastic cutting board, and my small food processor, and those 3 are probably the most useful gadgets in my kitchen. However, there are plenty more useful kitchen gadgets that I use every day or at least a few times a week. Those other 3 kitchen gadgets are my wire colander, my glass mixing bowl set, and my rubber spatulas.

Food Gadget #1: Wire Colander
I don’t know how often you boil water in your kitchen, but I seem to do it at least once every two days. I’m constantly cooking frozen veggies or pasta over the stove, and without some kind of colander to drain my pots over, I would have a very difficult time draining what I cook. The wire colander that I have is very functional since the holes are pretty small, and I’ve never had a problem with any food going through.

Food Gadget #2: Glass Mixing Bowl Set
Can you believe that I was married for 3+ years, cooking quite often with only one mixing bowl? I think I washed that bowl out several times per meal since I needed to use it for mixing something else, and what a pain. Then I decided to ask for more mixing bowls at Christmas, and my mom gave me a wonderful mixing bowl set. There must be 10 glass nesting bowls in this set, starting from a bowl tiny enough to hold a few grapes, all the way large enough to hold maybe 3 quarts of water! I’m not sure just how big it is, but it’s big enough, and there are many other more regular sizes in between. I am constantly using one of these mixing bowls.

Food Gadget #3: Rubber Spatulas
My third useful kitchen gadget is the rubber spatula. From mixing cake batter to stirring vegetables cooking in a skillet, the rubber spatula is what I use! I have both a small and regular-sized rubber spatulas that I use for stirring whatever’s cooking or just scraping the inside of a can of tomato sauce. But I also have a rubber spatula that is for flipping pancakes or grilled hamburgers. These spatulas are so unassuming that they can be used even on non-stick pans! I just must be sure to take good care of them to prevent them from staining after being used in spaghetti sauce or other staining sauce.

Now you know three more kitchen gadgets I can’t cook without! Feel free to share what you find very useful in your kitchen!
