Throw Away Your Mascara Forever

Some women have been able to throw out their eyeliner and eyebrow pencils forever by undergoing “permanent make up surgery.” It is a type of cosmetic surgery that permanently tattoos make up on a person’s skin. If the idea of ditching your eyeliner intrigues you, you may be happy to know that there’s now a new procedure that will allow you to further lighten your makeup bag. It’s called eyelash extensions and it allows women to get rid of their mascara forever—without going under the knife.

The eyelash extension procedure does not require surgery; rather it is done by salon technicians (though only a select few throughout the United States are qualified to offer the service). The initial treatment takes about two hours and if you decided you liked what you saw you would then come in for touch ups every three to six weeks.

So what does the procedure entail: A salon technician (with steady hands) applies faux mink lashes one at a time. The lashes adhere themselves with a product similar to surgical adhesive, but its not applied to the skin. Instead, the fake eyelash is bonded right to a person’s actual eyelashes (it basically sits on top of your real lashes).

The length and thickness of the lashes depend on the desired end effect. Salon technicians say the average length of the faux lashes is 10 millimeters long. You can even get faux lashes that have hints of blue and the green, which are used to bring out a person’s natural eye color. Women who have had the treatment done say the faux lashes make their eyes look brighter.

The process may be effective, but it’s not cheap. The initial appointment will set you back about $300. While touch ups run about $65 every four weeks.

Does it sound like a procedure you would consider paying for?
