Page kits may be some of the best scrapbook time savers around. If you thought having a package of embellishments in your stockpile was the key to creating quick and easy page designs, then you haven’t worked with these ready-made layouts.
Most kits come with patterned paper, cardstock, stickers (or other embellishments) as well as frames and directions on how to put all of the materials together. Basically, all you need to do is unwrap the kit, follow the instructions, add your photos and your page is done.
If you prefer putting your own spin on page designs and rather not rely on ready-made kits, then save time by organizing as you go. Scrapbooking for a few minutes each day will be far from productive if you spend the time trying to find your materials. Ideally, you can construct a scrapbook room in your home, but even if you can’t dedicate an entire room to crafting, then at least organize the workspace you do have. Purchase containers, shelves, folders, dividers or cabinets to help keep your supplies in order, then once you have the storage, go through your photos and materials and decide what you want to keep and what can be recycled.
As you rummage through your supplies make an inventory of what you have and what you need. While it’s fun to hit up scrapbook stores, you may find it hard to resist the temptation to buy items you don’t need. Shopping without a list is a recipe for wasted time and money.
Another time saver is to jot down ideas for layouts as they pop into your mind. You could also sketch potential page designs prior to shopping. Doing so will eliminate the urge to buy extraneous merchandise and keep you on track.
