Tips for a Better Day

Are you exhausted? Do you struggle to keep it together some days? I know I have seen my share of exhausted days where I struggled to keep it together. Being a mom is hard work. In today’s world moms wear many hats. Somedays the hats weigh us down and our necks begin to ache. We need a respite at times. We need a few minutes to regroup. More than a temporary quiet time we need a solution and strength for the journey of parenting. Where do we begin?

Get your sleep: being tired leads to fussiness in adults as much as kids. We are not ourselves when we are sleep deprived. We are less patient, more irritable, and simply not fun or comforting to be around. I am a night owl. When I wake up groggy and have to deal with loud children who can’t seem to do anything right, I get impatient. The truth is; the kids are not loud and they are doing everything right. It is me who is unable to handle my day due to exhaustion. Everything seems to bug me more when I just want to take a nap. Be wise and get your sleep. You and your children will be better off for it.

Exercise: you do not need to be an athlete but you need to care for yourself physically. Exercise will help you feel great and have more energy to run and play. The more you sit the more tired you feel and the more tired you feel…well…we covered that above. Just take 20 minutes to exercise or go on a walk with the kids.

Laugh: find a way to laugh daily. Feel free to laugh several times a day. Laughing is one thing you need not do in moderation. It will dramatically improve your mood and outlook. Laugh at the PB and J you find in the toy box.
