Tips for Getting a Scrap Area You’ll Love

We are not all blessed with our own scrapbook room. In fact, some of us make do by sharing a room with another part of the household. In addition, some of us don’t even have that luxury, some of us are blessed only with a cabinet or a closet. This can make getting a comfortable scrap area a lot harder to obtain.

So what do you do when space is limited, you are on a budget and your area is simply not inspiring you?

You get creative. Honestly, if you are a scrapbooker, you already possess the creative gene, so to speak. So now it’s time to see if you can do a little to spice things up.

First of all, use things you already have to make your scrapbook space uniquely yours. Use scented candles if you like them, add artwork if you find something you really enjoy or truly inspires you, even if it has to hang on the inside of a closet door. Hang up your own projects and include altered pieces to make the space comfortable and creative.

Second, if space is an issue, see if there is an alternate way to store your supplies and gain a bit more room. Use a folding table and folding chairs when you wish to scrap, so that you can spread out. Find storage that is compact and be sure to utilize as much wall space as you can. Buy peg board and other items that can be hung so that you can get the most out of the space that you have. You might also wish to invest in a rolling cart of some kind. This way you can store your supplies that you use most often and it is easy to roll them out of their hiding place when you want to sit and scrap.

Last, if something is not working for you, change it. Eliminate it if it is a constant source of frustration. See if you can modify whatever it is to make it work better for you.

When you have only a small space to work with, it can be hard to adjust and get a space that you love. But with a little patience and a whole lot of creativity, you can certainly get a place that’s worth its price in scrap time.
