Here are more tips for stress free entertaining for you and your spouse.
4. Know Your Spouse

Growing up I don’t remember my parents entertaining a lot and Mick said the same about this parents. We got to wondering if it was because our fathers where both quiet men who didn’t like a lot of people? They just liked to come home and relax after a hard day at work and not have to make conversation, and the same applied on weekends.

5. Do they Get Along?

Consider too, are the people you want to invite mutual friends? Do the guys get along together? It’s hard if you get along with one of the friends and your spouse doesn’t get along with the other half.

Years ago Mick and I had a situation where we both liked one the woman of the couple but found the guy abrasive. In the end. I arranged to see my friend on her own rather than subject us all to uncomfortable evenings.

6. Look at other options

If your spouse is one who doesn’t like having people over then you might elect to invite your girlfriends when he is not around, or have a night out with friends instead.

Do you get along with your spouse’s friends? Does your spouse get along with your friends or is there one who really drives them crazy? If so it might be better to keep them apart and see your friend when your spouse is not around. Perhaps a girl’s lunch or night out instead?

7. Watch the Timing of events

Timing is important – don’t plan to invite guests over when you know your spouse has had a busy, stressful week

8. Cook His Favorite

A little sweetener goes a long way. One sure way to help your spouse enjoy entertaining is to cook his favorite meal or favorite dessert. We rarely eat dessert but Mick loves lemon meringue pie so this weekend when we’re having dinner guest, guess what I’m going cooking for dessert, The wheat and gluten free variety of course.
