Tips on Dating

Everyone has a different idea of what a date is or should be. But there are a few tips on dating that are tried and true, especially if you’re still in the get acquainted stage and especially during the all important first date.

The first tip on dating should be to forget trying to surprise the date. Surprises are great, but they can also backfire big time if you happen to take the date to an all you can eat meat dinner and your date is a vegetarian. Make a joint decision on where to go if it’s for a meal.

Try not to be late, especially if there are timed reservations on the agenda. Some restaurants will not hold reservations for more than few minutes and if the restaurant happens to be an expensive one, you may be out some money on your credit card if they requested one to place the reservation in the first place.

Don’t go to the date with unrealistic expectations. Most people wouldn’t expect sex on a first date, yet that advice will be on most tips on dating lists. The first date should be brief, a couple of hours – long enough to chat, perhaps share coffee or a meal, but not so long that conversational topics run dry.

Another for the tips on dating list is focus less on the appearance of your date and more on the substance. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, if you spend all your time obsessing on the exterior you might miss out on a really great person. It’s also a truism that a personality really enhances beauty. Be honest about yourself; don’t fabricate opinions so that you can just agree with your date. If a topic is uncomfortable, be honest that it’s not something you want to discuss on the date.

A final tip for dating, always try to end the date on a positive note. If you would like to go out again, ask and don’t leave it with vague details. Have a second date idea in mind and keep it simple like the first, there’s lots of complications in life, dates don’t need to be – especially when the focus should be on getting to know each other and not where you’re going to accomplish that at.

Try to have a good time and forget being nervous. Always remember that your date said yes or asked you to go on the date in the first place. They want to be there. You want to be there. Relax, don’t think about all the tips on dating you’ve heard and make yourself nervous. Enjoy your date and their company.
