Toddler’s First Birthday

One of my daughter’s young friends officially entered toddler-dom. Today my daughter and I went to our friends’ house to celebrate their youngest turning one. The venue was perfect for the seven toddlers in attendance. The bounce house should have been a big hit, but the toddler pool and sprinkler held far more amusement.

I couldn’t help but remember my daughter’s first birthday party. Jessie joined our family two months before her first birthday. We invited all of our friends over to the house and ate pizza. All the children played together with Jessie’s toys. Jessie and a friend’s three-year-old son mooned over each other. The two of them were downright adorable.

My friends had a two-tiered, pink, fondant wrapped cake to celebrate their daughter’s birthday. The new toddler dug into the top tier with a fork and did very well feeding herself.

I bought a sheet cake at Wal-Mart for Jessie’s birthday. Because she was turning one, Wal-Mart gave her a free little cake for herself. Jessie didn’t know what to make of the cake. The most efficient way to eat it that she found was to pick it up and bite into it like it was a sandwich. What a mess she made! Her daddy and I were so glad that we had stripped her down to her diaper before giving her the cake.

After cake my friend put her daughter in the kitchen sink to wash her. I was told that the yelling was all happy yelling and that she was enjoying her tubby time. She looked a lot better all dressed up again.

We had to do the same thing with Jessie after her first cake. We dumped her right into the kitchen sink, but she did not like it at all. We had to be fast with bathing and getting her dressed.
