TOP North American Campsites

Spending time camping with family or friends is one of the greatest outdoor activities! Whether going for a short overnight stay or planning a weeklong trip, something magical happens when you play hard all day and then sit by a roaring campfire at night. Camping offers a time for sharing stories, enjoying nature at its best, and experiencing the challenges of “roughing it”. In the United States and Canada, there are literally thousands upon thousands of campsites but we wanted to tell you about what people consider the top ten.

If you are going to take time off from work and go through the process of packing up the car with all the camping equipment then you certainly want to stay in the best possible campground. Although most people camp at the closest location, which is certainly fine, why not make your next camping experience something extraordinary. Just imagine visiting camping locations that look and feel great. In other words, you can stop ending up in empty fields, sleeping on rocks that feel like boulders, or driving aimlessly looking for something decent.

Now, keep in mind that quasi-legal camping experiences such as these can be fun but they do get a little boring. Instead, show your family what real camping is all about with some fantastic places. Typically, these campsites would need to be reserved in advance but this type of planning is worth it. The views are breathtakingly beautiful and the overall area exceptional. Many will offer secluded campsites so you do not end up with obnoxious neighbors, fire rings for the perfect bon fire, and some, will even have places nearby where you can purchase firewood so the surrounding environment is not damaged.

Each of the campgrounds listed below will make the trip worth the time and effort, giving you a real camping adventure.

1. Allagash Wilderness – Maine
2. Apua Point – Hawaii
3. Channel Islands – California
4. Cumberland Island – Georgia
5. Flat Tops – Colorado
6. Gooseberry Falls – Minnesota
7. High Point – New Jersey
8. Marble Canyon – Arizona
9. Philip Edward Island – Ontario
10. Wood Tikchik – Alaska
