Tropical Layouts

With so many people heading south for spring break, now is the time to stock up on tropical-themed scrapbook embellishments.

Even if you are not planning a spring fling to the Caribbean, Hawaii or Mexico this year you can save the materials to use on a summer beach-themed layout or a page design for honeymooning friends.

Since we visit my parents in Hawaii twice a year, I typically purchase a bunch of unique local Hawaiian scrapbooking supplies in the Islands rather than stocking up online or in shops here in Wisconsin. However, if you prefer to choose from the myriad of tropical options that are featured online I would highly suggest visiting ScrapGirls. The site is teeming with background paper and embellishments from palm tree stickers to Pina Colada stamps.

If you are into digital scrapbooking, then head over to Lettering Delights where you can find Hawaiian print lettering which you can use to create titles and photo captions. Another option is to invest in a kit which comes with designer paper and other tropics-inspired materials, such as flowers, lei, hula skirts and coconuts that you can coordinate with your beach vacation photos.

ScrapGirls also has a slew of digital stickers in fun shapes, including shells, seaweed and sand dollars. The images can easily be dropped into your tropical beach getaway layout for less than five bucks. Another inexpensive option is also found at the ScrapGirls website. The “Aloha Tropical” collection is billed as a Hawaiian themed series, but you could easily use it to decorate a digital scrapbook layout filled with photos from your trip to the Caribbean, the Seychelles or Tahiti. The set of paper templates includes pineapples, coconuts, slippers and mini palm trees.

Finally, don’t forget the clip art. The Internet is jam-packed with digital images that showcase the wonders of the tropics. You can even download files of Hawaiian art work as well as traditional clip art with a tropical theme. The clips are high resolution and saved in .JPG format, so you can place them in the layout of your choice.
