Upcoming Genealogy Events – Week of June 24, 2012

Computer lab This could be the week that you achieve the genealogy resolution that you made at the beginning of this year! It is time to go take a genealogy class or attend a genealogy workshop or event. Here are a few that will be happening this week. One could be located near you!

On June 25, 2012, The Shrewsbury Public Library, which is located in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, will hold the monthly meeting of the Shrewsbury Genealogy Club. It will begin at 7:00 in the evening. The club is open to anyone who is interested in genealogy and family history, and you do not have to be a Shrewsbury resident in order to attend.

On June 26, 2012, the Temecula Public Library, which is located in Temecula, California, will host a meeting of the Temecula Valley Genealogical Society. They will be available to assist you with your genealogy research from 1:00 in the afternoon until 3:00 in the afternoon.

On June 27, 2012, the Acadian Memorial, which is located in St. Martinville, Louisiana, will host a free genealogy workshop. It is called “Local Church Records Genealogy Workshop”, and will be presented by St. Martin de Tours Archivist Isabelle Pointer. This workshop will start at 10:00 in the morning and will end at 11:30 in the morning. Registration is required.

Also on June 27, 2012, the Oklahoma History Center, which is located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, will have a “Lunch & Learn Lecture” hosted by the Oklahoma Historical Society Research Center. It will be presented by Nancy Calhoun, the Muskogee Public Library, and the Genealogy & Local History Center. They will discuss library resources and history. It will begin at 11:30 in the morning and end at 1:00 in the afternoon. Registration is required. It will cost $10.00, with lunch included. You must pay by credit card.

And also on June 27, 2012, the Cazenovia Public Library, which is located in Cazenovia, New York, will offer a Basic Genealogy Lab. Library staff Elisha Davies will lead two sessions that will help you to begin your family search. The lab will begin at 1:30 in the afternoon, and will last for a 90 minute session. You can learn how to use Ancestry.com and Heritage Quest. Space is limited, and registration is required.
