Use Extreme Couponing to Stockpile for Emergencies

Extreme Couponing doesn’t have to be all about getting hundreds of boxes of cookies for pennies and then letting them sit on your shelf to go stale. You can, instead, use extreme couponing techniques to stockpile emergency supplies, such as bottled water, heat and eat or convenience meals, first aid supplies, paper towels and other hygiene supplies, peanut butter, crackers., etc.

First what you want to do is to identify those items that you will need for your emergency supplies, along with the quantities needed. This will help you to keep on track and build your emergency supply without getting distracted by other good deals. Remember that if you spend your time getting jars of free mustard that won’t be useful to you, you’ve not only wasted time, but you need storage space that could otherwise be used for items that are more important to have. It is easy to get caught up in Extreme Couponing an the thrill of getting a deal. With a solid list, you can avoid that risk.

Next, start gathering your coupons. You can simply buy three or four copies of the Sunday paper, ask neighbors and friends to save coupons for you, or print coupons online. You can also sign up with manufacturers through their website or Facebook page in order to get additional coupons.

Once you have a good amount of coupons, start scouting out the grocery store ads. Compare your emergency stockpile list with what is on sale. Then match coupons whenever possible. You may want to shop at several different stores, especially the ones that offer double or triple coupons.

Once you get an items that is one your list, cross it off of the list. You may want to date the item, so you know when you may need to replace it.

Extreme Couponing and emergency planning can work well together!
