Using Inspirational Words

I’m not big on using quotes in my scrapbook layouts. I use them occasionally when I am extremely moved by certain words or phrases; however, they really have to fit the theme of my layout in order for me to add them to a page.

Some scrappers can’t live without quotes. Their memory books are chock-full of inspirational words that they feel help convey a certain mood or some how describe a sentiment in a particularly eloquent manner.

Whether you use quotes to embellish your scrapbook on a regular basis or you only employ them in rare situations, you should have a guide to help you in the selection process. After all, your goal should be to choose quotes that are appropriate for your particular layout. When picking the prefect quotes for your scrapbook page, consider:

Occasion: Different occasions warrant different quotes. For example, if you are creating a baby scrapbook, then you might look for inspirational words from people who have experience raising kids, such as: “What good mothers and fathers instinctively feel like doing for their babies is usually best after all.” ~Benjamin Spock or “Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.” ~Elizabeth Stone

Tone: The tone of the quote should complement the overall feel of a particular page. For example, if you are working on a whimsical layout, then consider using a quirky quote to embellish it rather than one that has a serious tone. Scrapbooks can combine humor and sentimentality. The trick is knowing how to employ each appropriately.

Theme: Once you select a theme of your scrapbook finding the perfect quotes will be much easier. Consider the overall message you want to convey in your memory book and seek out quotes that will help enhance it.
