Tired of taking the same boring holiday photos of your kids standing like statues in front of the Christmas tree? Then, add a little spice to your to seasonal shots by incorporating some of these creative ideas:
Boxes: Get an extra large gift box, wrap it, and then fill it with brightly-colored tissue paper. Then, place your newborn in the box and have your older kids hold the box top to reveal the “gift” of a baby sister or brother.
Beach: This is a great idea for families who live in warm climates, such as Hawaii or Florida. Instead of snapping the traditional kids playing in the snow Christmas picture, head to the beach for a family holiday photo shoot. If you love the idea, but live in snow country, then snap the shot during your summer trip to the shore. Just remember to dress your kids in red swimsuits and Santa hats, and have them pose next to a sand snowman.
Crib: Dress your infant in a cute holiday-themed outfit, and then decorate the perimeter of her crib with Christmas lights, garland, tinsel, and a menagerie of stuffed animals. Next, place your baby in the crib, take a few shots and add the photos to a card with the following caption: “Merry Christmas from Our Crib to Yours.”
Bath: Place your young child (this idea works best for babies and toddlers) in the bathtub or sink and paint his cheeks red (use rouge if your child has sensitive skin). Then, place a Santa hat on his head and a beard made from soap bubbles on his face.
Pets: There are so many different ways you can spice up holiday shots featuring your pets and your kids. One of my favorite ideas is to dress up your child in a Santa suit and place reindeer antlers on your dog’s head. Pose the two in front of the Christmas tree or fireplace and snap away.
