For the challenge this week, I want to see how much bling and how much flowers we can put on our layouts. While this is not typically my style of scrapbooking on a daily basis, I do like it now and then. And, it is especially nice on those girly layouts that we love to do. So, for this week, here are the rules for this challenge:
1. You must have two or more flowers on the layout.
2. You have to use bling somewhere on the layout, this can include sequins, glitter mist, rhinestones or anything else that is shiny!
3. Last, for an added twist, try to use either flowers or bling as a border for the photo.
That’s it! Pretty simple. The key to this challenge is to not go overboard. When using a lot of flowers, sometimes the photo can get lost, and you can do the same thing with bling and all things shiny as well. To keep it simple, but still meet the rules, try these ideas:
* Try using a rhinestone circle, or border on the photo itself. I love to do this when I have a photo where the subject is kind of small, and I can take a rhinestone circle and put it around the main subject in the photo. Sometimes, I even like to frame the face of a subject. But, you have to be careful when doing that, because it can easily look silly fast! There have been times when I’ve put a circle around my daughter’s face only to have it look like she was wearing a dog collar!
*Cluster the flowers together at the corner of your photo. This gives a nice, frilly look to the page, but doesn’t overwhelm the whole page. If you put flowers in random places on the layout, it may not look as cohesive, and it might end up just looking like an accident!
*If you think it needs more frills and pretty things, try using a paper doily, or some lace. I have even cut doilies in half so that they don’t overwhelm the page.
*Add a flourish along one side of the photograph, and then put some flowers at the bottom of the flourish. Something like this always works nicely.
There are so many ways you can make your scrapbook pages frilly and girly! So try these tips out to get started today!
