Week in Review: December 17th – 22nd

We’ve had a lot of fun concentrating on Christmas here in Movie Reviews this week. Let’s take a look at all the goodies we found.

First was “Christmas with the Kranks” starring Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis. Based on John Grisham’s book “Skipping Christmas,” it’s the story of a couple who decided not to do Christmas this year, only to discover what a silly idea that was.

Christmas in Connecticut” stars Barbara Stanwick as a journalist who learns that honestly really is the best policy, and that you can’t imagine a whole new life for yourself – you have to create it and live it.

We diverged from the Christmas theme long enough to take a look at the BBC version of Jane Austen’s “Persuasion,” starring Amanda Root and Cieran Hinds as the star-crossed lovers who finally overcome their pride and end up together.

I’ll Be Home for Christmas” is a fun romp through the desert with Jonathan Taylor Thomas who has been promised a Porsche if he’ll come home in time for Christmas Eve dinner, but has everything in the world crop up to keep him from meeting his goal, while another guy tries to steal his girlfriend.

We diverge again with “Dancing Lady,” starring Clark Gable and Joan Crawford. This movie really doesn’t merit the electricity your monitor is putting out as you read about it, so we’ll move on to better things.

The Prince and Me 2” is the sequel to “The Prince and Me,” and stars Kam Heskin as Paige, taking over for Julia Stiles. While a mildly cute movie, Julia was missed.

We were also treated to a guest blog from Pam Connell, who told us about a Christmas DVD put out by the Wiggles, the world-famous children’s entertainment group.

Thanks for joining us here in Movie Reviews – be sure to stop by again next week!
