Week in Review: Fresh Starts to Who’s Happy

This week I touched on five topics: Fresh starts for your new year, finding moderation in your Christian walk, the execution of Saddam Husain, having faith in God, acknowledging Christians are not perfect and I also shared information gathered from a study regarding the happiest people in the United States.

  • In Fresh Starts for 2007, I looked at the significance the Bible puts on the number seven. Seven seems to represent completion and makes way for fresh new starts.
  • In Finding Moderation, I wanted to bring a point across that we can’t serve God too much, but we can get sidetracked to the far right or left of the Word. It’s important that we examine ourselves and see where our attitudes and perspectives line up with what the Bible has to say. We shouldn’t be seeking to worship signs and wonders in the name of God, and we shouldn’t become legalistic or cold to the Lord either.
  • Saddam Husain was executed on December 30, 2006. Prior to this I had listened to a radio program which inspired my blog, A View of Execution where I thought about whether I as a Christian should view such a thing. I have since viewed it and my heart is grieved. The footage didn’t show much which I am now thankful for. I suppose my curiosity got the better of me.
  • My blog on Believing in What We Can Not See talked about what the Bible has to say about the proof of God all around us. It seems awfully foolish to me that some people deny the existence of a Master Designer.
  • In Christians Aren’t Perfect I wanted to address specifically a concern I have with some Christian web sites where non-believers who come to learn are getting met very rudely by some who claim Christianity as their faith. Though Christians aren’t perfect, we should strive to be like Christ who is perfect.
  • Who’s Really Happy? Well, according to a study, those who are more conservative in values and politics, married, with children, college education, mid to upper income and those who regularly attend church are.

Happy New Year everyone!
