I would like to share some helpful information with you, our readers, on how to avoid getting lots of spam and junk mail from these offers.
First: Never, under any circumstances give out your credit card information or bank information for freebies. If it is a true freebie, they won’t need that information. If you suspect a deal is fraudulent please let me know so that I can look into it!
Second: Create a free email address (such as Gmail, Hotmail, or Yahoo)! Many offers require you to input your email address, but in doing so you may receive lots of spam email. Rather than using your personal or business email accounts, a free email account saves you the hassle of unwanted spam. I recommend Gmail, as it has TONS of storage room—so much so that you never have to delete anything! (If you are in need of a Gmail invitation, feel free to email me at familydeals@gmail.com )
Third: If possible, sign up using a nickname for your first name, or your first initial, along with your last name. For instance: J. Temlyn, or Jules Temlyn, instead of Julia Temlyn. This can be helpful in order to see how much junk mail or other mail you will receive by signing up for that offer. When I see items in my mailbox addressed to these names, I know they are either the freebies I ordered or junk mail I’m receiving as a result of it. (It is funny how once you sign up for a “having a baby” freebie, your name seems to get on every “having a baby” mailing list!)
I would also like to share a bit about what kinds of offers will be shared on this blog. We will be publishing excellent deals, coupons and coupon codes, freebies, rebate offers, contests, and even short reviews of some products when they have been received (to let you know what you have to look forward to in your mailbox!). Because this is a family-oriented website, you can be assured that all offers are family-friendly.
