What Can’t Paint do these Days?

You know about “green” paint. Not the color, the environmentally friendly formula. These paints are too, according to the manufacture, but there is much more. These paints contain properties that you may not have expected from house paint.

You have probably seen all those cool textured paints and glazes that create different finishes. Even spray paint has come a long way, from stone or metallic finishes to formulas that actually work on plastic.

Still, there are some things paint can do that are truly amazing. Besides beautifying and adding color, light, or dimension to a space, you can now use it to protect your home. Well, it’s always been used to protect in some ways, especially exterior paint, but this is different.

Nansulate has several formulas that can do a whole lot more. I knew about paint that helps protect against mold, mildew, rust, etc., and they have that too. However, I didn’t realize that paint could help with lead abatement or even help insulate your home.

Paint that uses nanotechnology to work as extra insulation? I didn’t see that one coming. The products coming out today are truly amazing.

But, is it safe? Nansulate says that it is and that it has been tested by a top laboratory. The results listed are that Nansulate is as safe as other paints (you can read about it here… note, it’s pdf) and these products are also said to be environmentally friendly. Nansulate is a member of The U.S. Green Building Council.

PLEASE NOTE: I have not used these products, so this is not a review. I did however find these products very interesting, so I wanted to tell you about them. As always, please do your own research before purchasing or using any product in your home.
