It is a good idea, when things get to be too much, to just focus on what is simple and practical…
As a rule, focusing on “practical” can be almost a no-fail way to get through a challenging time in any business. Of course, there is a time for taking risks and branching out in new directions, and even for trying out what might be called “foolish” ideas—but at other times, going for realistic, reasonable, and practical can really save your bacon (not to mention, your home-based business).
Along the same lines, simplicity is good too. After all, if you are anything like me, you can find all sorts of creative ways to complicate even the most mundane task or situation. Stripping things down to basics and looking for the least complicated way to approach something can often be the “best” way. Again, not always—sometimes taking the easy route is not the most complete—but during times of chaos or when you are not sure what direction to take your home business in—going for simplicity is often the very way to go.
So, the next time you feel yourself getting confused or overwhelmed, ask yourself what would be the most practical and the simplest way to proceed, or to solve the problem. Taking the simple and practical route has been the salvation of many a small business. Try not to overcomplicate things and let realism be your guide, and you will likely sail through with flying colors!
