Who Do You Think You Are – Season Two Revealed

NBC Have you watched this show yet? It is the perfect reality show for genealogists to watch. Different celebrities take a journey that reveals who their ancestors are, and where those ancestors were from. The first season is over, and NBC has just announced which celebrities will be featured in the upcoming episodes for season two of the series.

“Who Do You Think You Are?” is an extremely interesting show in general, and you don’t necessarily need to be a genealogy buff in order to enjoy watching the program. Basically, the show takes a look into the family tree of a particular celebrity, traces it, and then takes that celebrity to locations that significantly relate to that person’s ancestors. Sometimes, things are revealed that the celebrity was not aware of. You can think of this television program as more educated, smarter, version of the reality shows that involve putting celebrities into odd and embarrassing circumstances.

The first season had seven episodes. The first episode featured actress Sarah Jessica Parker, of “Sex and the City” fame. Football player Emmett Smith was in the second episode, and Lisa Kudrow was the focus of the third episode. She is involved as a director of this, the American version of the “Who Do You Think You Are?” show, and you probably recognize her from her role in the popular TV show “Friends”. Actor Matthew Broderick, whom many of us remember from his staring role in the movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”, (and, incidentally, the husband of Sarah Jessica Parker), was featured in episode five of the first season. Episode six focused on model and actress Brooke Shields. Actress Susan Sarandon, who starred in many films, including “Thelma & Louise”, was featured in episode six. Director Spike Lee was the focus of the seventh, and final, episode of season one. Haven’t had time to watch these episodes yet? You can view them from the NBC website right now, and they will be available until January 10, 2011.
