Why am I Writing this Disney Blog?

I’m a former employee of Walt Disney World in Florida. After going through the casting process, I found a great job at Walt Disney World’s Central Reservations Office. It wasn’t nearly as glamorous as playing Cinderella in the Magic Kingdom, in fact, it was considered a “backstage” position, but it was a fantastic job nonetheless! Part of my training involved touring all of the resorts/hotels on the Disney property from basic rooms to concierge level suites, exploring the vast and amazing underground and “backstage” areas, and doing considerable “off duty” research on the Walt Disney World Parks. The off duty research involved going to all of the Disney amusement parks as much as possible and riding all the rides as much as possible. (One of the great benefits to working at Walt Disney World is free admission to all the Disney Theme Parks.)

At the Central Reservations Office (1-407-W-Disney), I helped people planning their Disney vacations find the right hotels/resorts for their families to stay at and booked their rooms as well as their reservations for fun meals like character breakfasts and the “Hoop-De-Doo Musical Revue”. People planning Disney vacations are always happy and I loved being a part of their vacation magic.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time “working for the mouse” prior to beginning my career in the U.S. Air Force. Now, I’m living my own “happily ever after” as a freelance writer and novelist in Denver, Colorado, with my husband (Prince Charming) of nine years, our seven-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback, six-year-old German Shepherd, three-year-old son (much like Dash Incredible) and we’re expecting our second son in December of this year. Prince Charming and I have agreed that for each of our children’s fifth birthdays, we’re going to take the whole family to Walt Disney World for their birthday celebration. We’re planning our first family vacation at Disney for two years from now and I plan to share with you all the fruits of my research and planning!

I’ll be writing more blogs on how to get your own job working “for the mouse”, but you can always visit the Walt Disney World Casting Website for more information now.
