Last Saturday afternoon my husband and I decided it was too perfect a day to spend inside. We took off with our pup to the beach ten minutes away. A sky blue and almost cloudless, turned the waters of Jervis Bay a brilliant mix of turquoise and cerulean shot through with varying shades of green. Fringing the waters of the bay were the deep green bush land of Booderee and Jervis Bay National Parks.
Stopping now and then to look out at the view toward the headlands and the small island perched in the middle of the blue, or to pick up a shell washed in by the tide, we walked along the white sands of Hyams Beach up towards Cresswell navy base. When we reached a small sand dune we sat watching our pup digging in the sand while we reveled in the scenery. ‘How can people believe this is all happened by accident?’ I said looking at the beauty around us.
‘Surely that takes a bigger leap of imagination to believe that, than it does to believe in a creator,’ my husband agreed.
The bible agrees. Romans tell us clearly that what is ‘known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident,’ Romans 1:19. It goes on to say,‘For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse,’ Romans 1:20.
So, when I look at the beach, the dolphins playing in the water as we saw later that day, or the minutiae of three perfect delicate pink shells. I see the power of the gale force wind blowing as it has been the last couple of days and the creativity of God in the uniqueness of kangaroos bounding up the road to retreat back to the bush nearby. In all of creation I see the power and might of God who created all this from nothing. Just read Genesis 1 and 2 and let your mind dwell on the magnitude of this amazing world that God created for His people.
