I am about to start some reviews of job seeking sites and I realized that I should probably explain myself before I start. Why bother to review job seeking sites? Well, when I have looked for a job in the past it has been hard to even know where to start on the internet. Some job sites were helpful and some were a waste of time. Of course, every site claims that they are THE BEST! Not very helpful when you are trying to decide where best to conduct your job search.
This is the introduction to a series that I will add to periodically in order to give you an idea of where to start when you begin your job search. Before I do that, though, let me remind you of a few important points about job searching.
Don’t Limit Yourself to One Source
I will suggest job sites and the help that they can be to you. Don’t limit yourself just to one or two sites that I suggest. Take your job search seriously and make sure that you take advantage to everything that is available to you. Newspapers, job listings, websites, word of mouth. All of these are important.
Take Your Search Seriously
Spend time every day looking for a job. If you are not working, then job seeking IS your job. If you already have a job and are just looking for a better one then you are in a more challenging situation, but you still need to work on your job search every day. Set aside a few hours in the evenings or take advantage of your lunch break. I’m not saying that it will be easy, but it is necessary.
Be Persistent
There is always that one fortunate person who starts job searching and finds something the next day. You may be that person, but more likely it will be much more challenging. Job seeking is hard and it takes a lot of effort and perseverance. Hang in there and don’t quit just because you are not successful right away.
