Why Use a Kit?

Many scrapbookers are looking for faster and more creative ways to scrapbook. I suggest that using a pre-made scrapbooking kit can save you a lot of time and even some money.

How does a kit save you time?

Less time spent shopping. If you choose to scrapbook with a kit, usually everything you need is included. The contents of kits will vary, but most kits contain patterned paper, cardstock, ribbon, and fun embellishments. You won’t have to waste your time wandering through the aisles are your scrapbook store trying to find things that coordinate if you pick up a kit. All of the hard work has already been done for you.

Less time going through your stash. I know I have spent much time looking through my current scrapbooking supplies. Does this sound familiar? First you have to search through many different patterned papers searching for just the right paper, and then you look through your cardstock to find something that is “close enough” to match. Next, you start to search through your sticker stash for some coordinating embellishments. Then you need to find and alphabet that will go with your layout. Wow, all of your scrapping time was just used up with all of the searching. Maybe next scrapping session you will get to actually work on a layout!

Instead of the above scenario, you could just pull out your kit and be on your way to creating.

Another great thing about a kit is that you will get a variety of embellishments and try out things that you might overlook at a store.

Kits come in a variety of styles. Some kits can be purchased in scrapbook stores. One company usually puts these kits together and so they only contain products from that one company. For example, Making Memories may put a kit together that contains patterned paper, stickers, an alphabet and a fun metal embellishment. All of these items will be the Making Memories brand.

There are several companies that put together coordinated kits from a variety of manufacturers. You usually get a nice selection of items at a reasonable price. Many of these companies offer discounts subscription prices if you sign up to receive 3 or 6 months in a row of kits.

I own Scrapbook Circle, which offers monthly scrapbooking kits.

You can also check out the Scrapbooking Kit Top 50 site to find a kit that will fit your needs. If you live in the US, I suggest that you select USA kits from the drop down menu at the top of the page.

If you haven’t tried scrapbooking with a kit, I highly recommend it for all levels of scrapbooking.
