Why Weight Watchers Works

Why the Great Diet System Can Work for You Too…

As many of you know, I’m a die hard Weight Watchers fanatic, and yes, I’ve lost a little over 50 pounds—thanks to going every week and sticking to my plan. I’m not going to lie to any of you, I’ve had my ups and downs, I’ve skipped a meeting or two, and yes, I’ve had weeks where I threw all my points out the window, but honestly, I couldn’t have done it without the W-W (and all the support from my family and friends!).

From previous blogs you know that I’ve tried every diet on the planet, leaving me discouraged, unhappy, and usually weighing more than when I started. After a year or so of unsuccessful yo-yoing, I decided that today was the day. I was going to go to Weight Watchers, I was going to stick with it, and I was going to lose that annoying baby weight. I hopped in my car, signed up, got weighed and attended my first meeting. That day totally changed my life. From day one I found success–I lost 3 pounds the first week!

Weight Watchers bases its dieting regimen on two straightforward plans, The Flexpoints Plan and The Core Plan. Both plans are simple, easy to follow and easy to utilize around a busy lifestyle, family, and a hubby that can eat pretty much anything. I’ll go into more detail in later blogs, but for now, a simple overview:

The Flex Plan “allows” you to eat whatever you want, whenever you want–you just have to stay with in your given points for the week. You are also allowed 36 “bonus” points which you can utilize at any time.

The Core Plan is a little different in that the focus is on wholesome foods (think fruits and veggies, meats and poultry) without counting. You may eat as much of these wholesome foods as you wish.

I stuck with the Flex Plan because it allowed me to eat what I wanted (in a controlled portion, mind you) and not feel guilty. I always felt if I restricted myself from certain foods (like dessert) on previous diets that I ended up craving those foods, and subsequently got off my diet. With the points system, I never really felt like I was on a diet. I could eat dessert (Weight Watchers Bars, yum) and I could drink a Coke once in a while. I could even go out with my friends and have a drink or two. I just had to write everything down and count every point. I did so religiously, and it really worked.

Weight Watchers taught me how to eat right again—and feel better about myself when no other diet could.

Start today and start feeling better about yourself, like me! 😉
