Workout DVDs Coming Up For Review

I’m always looking for a new feature, a new article or a new piece of information to bring to you here in the fitness blog and with the weekend rapidly approaching and more, I’ve got some good news for you. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I’m going to put my money where my mouth is and I’m renting a series of fitness DVDs from Netflix to review. We’re going to start with 10 Minutes of Dancing and Leslie Sansone’s Walk Away the Pounds.

DVD Reviews

So what can you expect from the reviews feature? We’ll start with discussing the exercise DVD and the types of exercises it offers. You’ll find links to it for purchase through Amazon.com if that’s what you’re interested in. You’ll also find my personal rating for this workout DVD:

  • 5 Sneakers – This is the highest accolade and few DVDs will receive this rating because it means it will meet all my criteria for a close to perfect workout
  • 4 Sneakers – This is an excellent rating, it means the DVD offers solid instruction, maintains the individual’s interest and it will be worth repetition without getting too bored too fast
  • 3 Sneakers – This is an average rating and it means while I might have found something worthwhile, it’s longevity in your workout shelf may be better based on a rental than on a purchase
  • 2 Sneakers – The appeal of this DVD will be limited and while I may not care for it, it could be worth checking out to see if you agree with my opinion
  • 1 Sneaker – This is a rating that suggests it’s not even worth the rental to look at, but remember, these are just my opinion

Finally, the review will include the following components to measure my opinion of the workout DVD:

  • How was the instructor? Did he or she generate a pleasant environment? Can I imagine myself listening to them day in and day out? Did they maintain a high energy level throughout the workout?
  • How was the workout? Was it structured towards the beginner? Are the motions well described? Are any of the moves too high in impact? Do they offer a low impact version?
  • Rate the workout itself. How did I feel while performing it? How did I feel afterwards? Do I want to repeat the workout?
  • How did I feel the next day? Was there any measurable soreness or sense of overdoing it?
  • Finally, in summary – what are the pros and cons of this workout DVD, how do I rate it?

The first two workout DVDs should arrive today and I’ll look them over this weekend and you can expect your first reviews on Monday. So tell me, are there any specific workout DVDs that you are considering? Would you like me to review it? Let me know the title and I’ll add it to my list!
