World Aquarium = World Record?

World Aquarium is located in the City Museum in downtown St. Louis, Missouri. It is a must-see attraction if you are in the St. Louis area. It covers more than 13,000 square feet and allows you the opportunity to get up close and personal with small sharks, piranhas, catfish, crabs, alligators and turtles. The hands-on exhibits are without a doubt the star attractions at the aquarium. HOWEVER, if you are lucky enough to make the trip in the next few weeks you will be able to get a first hand look at more than just dolphins, river otters, and penguins. You will have the chance to be a part of history.

World Aquarium is trying set a world record. Officials there hope a new exhibit will prompt the creation of a Guinness World Record for the most two-headed animals on display. I can’t believe I am going to miss it. So far, the aquarium has lined up 10 two-headed snakes and turtles, including “We,” the aquarium’s rare albino two-headed rat snake. In addition, aquarium workers say even more heads will be turning if a local reptile dealer with a two-headed snake adds his to the exhibit.

The potentially record-breaking two-headed party gets under way next week and continues through September 5th. If you do go keep an eye out for “We.” Word has it that the aquarium is trying to mate “We”–a visiting two-headed albino rat snake named “Golden Girls.” Aquarium officials have been trying to breed “We” since failing to sell the snake online in January. There is one hitch, tough: Officials aren’t sure whether “We” is male, female or a bit of both.

Even if the exhibit fails to produce another two-headed snake, you will be in for a treat just getting the chance to see what could soon be listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the “Largest Exhibit of Two-headed Animals.”

Are you planning to make the trip?
