Yoga Month 2010

September is National Yoga Month. This is an awareness campaign to spread the word about the many benefits of a yoga practice and to encourage people to try yoga. Many yoga studios and organizations in cities throughout the country participate in activities throughout the month.

There are hundreds of free classes and events being held in large cities and small towns around the country. The events being offered vary widely, depending on where you live. Some programs are offering yoga classes, meditation, lectures and other celebrations. Other events include art, music and other events to bring the community together and educate people about the practice of yoga.

Many studios offer free yoga classes. During national yoga month, participating studios offer one week of free yoga to people interesting in trying yoga. There are well over a thousand studios offering a free week of yoga throughout the country.

If you have been considering trying yoga, September is the perfect month to try it without signing up for a membership and with no financial obligation. You can find studios offering free yoga classes and yoga organizations in your area that are offering free events by searching online or calling your local yoga studio or Yoga Alliance.

Yoga professionals are encouraged to get involved with Yoga Month celebrations and to provide free classes during the month of September. Studios and organizations are able to advertise these events and be included in the online listing. If you are a yoga instructor or studio owner, consider becoming part of the month long celebration of yoga by offering free classes or joining one of the activities being offered in your town.
