Your Journal Writing Style

Why do you write in your journal? We have been instructed to keep a record of our lives. This is important to do, and there are several reasons to keep a journal. You may find that you primarily focus on just one reason or your do a little bit of all of them. Additionally you may find that your writing style changes as you consider why you are keeping a record of your life.

One of the biggest reasons many people keep a journal is it is a record that you can pass on to your posterity. If you are keeping a journal for these reasons, do not attempt to make yourself appear perfect. Others can learn from your struggles. You may give another the strength to continue in the future because you were able to continue forward despite great difficulty.

You may be keeping a journal as a way to work through your emotions and difficulties. I write this way quite often. I worry about what others might think of my life since I am always writing about only my problems and not taking time to recognize my blessings. If you are this type of writer try to balance out your entries.

It can also be beneficial to go back and read your journal on a regular basis. You will be surprised at the number of prayers that are answered. You will also be able to see how much you have grown spiritually. I have benefited by taking time to read over some of the times in which I have grown the most spiritually.

If you are having trouble writing in your journal regularly, set aside a certain time each week or day to work on it. Do not be intimidated by needing to impress with what you write. You do not need to worry about grammar or writing beautiful prose. Focus on getting your experience and emotions down. Share your thoughts and feelings and you will have a successful journal that will be a blessing to many.
