Twelve Months Post Partum: An Exercising Journey Part VIII

As much as I was loving the burn I received from my more recent workout routine, after about six months of dedication, I was ready for something different.  Even though I still had a good pound and a half to lose (and keep off legitimately) to meet my newest post partum weight loss goals, my body, while stronger than it has ever been before, needed a break from the high intensity, high impact, and high insanity workouts. The jump work from this particular series of exercises were taking a tole on my joints and I knew that my body could … Continue reading

Twelve Months Post Partum: An Exercising Journey Part VII

Since I had been trying on my pre pregnancy jeans quite regularly after my the birth of my daughter only to find them too tight over and over again, it was a very pleasant surprise to find that my jeans were actually too big! However, I have noticed some size discrepancy between jeans I have owned for several years and the new sizes at the boutiques.  I confirmed my suspicion by going to my favorite clothing boutique and trying on the same skinny jean in the next size down: they fit perfectly!  Needless to say, pushing my workout routine into … Continue reading

Twelve Months Post Partum: An Exercising Journey Part VI

After struggling for months trying to lose all (and maybe a smidge more) of the weight I had gained during my two pregnancies, after changing up my exercise routine again and again, and after going back and forth between motivation and frustration, I finally found a workout that could help me reach my ultimate goal: getting back down to the weight I was before having children. Thankfully my (very skinny) sister asked me to do an over the top workout with her that she and her husband were never able to get through.  The workout was beyond insanely difficult.  We … Continue reading

Twelve Months Post Partum: An Exercising Journey Part IV

I continued my workout variation exercising any where from thirty minutes to sixty minutes a day four to seven days a week.  I cut back on my baking and baked goods eating which of course made a huge difference in my body’s fat burning abilities.  I increased my protein consumption and never ate past nine in the evening.  Somehow I managed to find the motivation to commit to exercising a minimum six days a week again. I forced myself to exercise even if I procrastinated until ten at night.  I was going to get those last very stubborn five pounds … Continue reading

Twelve Months Post Partum: An Exercising Journey Part III

With weeks and weeks of post partum exercise in the bag, I was feeling pretty good about my progress and continued motivation to get the pregnancy weight off quickly.  I had set goal dates to be back down to my pre pregnancy weight (after my son but before my daughter) and my pre pre pregnancy weight (before both babies).  Even though I was making progress, I was losing weight and my muscles were getting toned,  my goal dates came and went without being met.  Feeling more than a little frustrated, I set new goal dates and switched up my post … Continue reading

Twelve Months Post Partum: An Exercising Journey Part II

By week two of my exercising excursions, I was ready to try something a little more difficult but still low impact.  I started switching off every other day with a total body toning and strengthening work (because of the stomach down mat work, I was not able to do this workout after week eighteen of my pregnancy).  It was a really hard workout and I was happy to only be doing it every other day! Two weeks into my new post partum workout routine and six weeks post partum, I started feeling a little more tone in my abdominal muscles. … Continue reading

Twelve Months Post Partum: An Exercising Journey Part I

Now that it has officially  been an entire years since my daughter’s birth, I feel that my post partum period has come to a close.  This twelve month phase of my life has been rather incredible mostly because of the precious gift of my daughter’s life and the joys (and frustrations) of being a mother, but also because I seemed to have accomplished my post partum fitness goals.  I felt that it was fitting to bring my post partum journey to a close by divulging some of my fitness triumphs and defeats. I set out determined to get back into … Continue reading

Eight Months Post Partum

It has been eight months since my daughter’s birth. So many things have happened in the past eight months that it is somewhat difficult to separate the events of the last several months. If it were not for my almost non existent cycles, I would say that I am completely back to normal post baby. At eight months post partum maintaining the motivation to limit sweets and exercise daily has been a huge struggle. There always seem to be an excuse to bake something sweet either for our more frequent dinner guests or for all the summer birthdays we have … Continue reading

Postpartum Woes-Getting Your Groove Back

When I was struggling during the first few weeks and months of my little one’s life, it seemed so hard. In fact, it seemed that all of the tummy issues he had and lack of sleep was just too much for me to handle. I felt like I would never be back to my normal self now that I had three kids to take care of. I felt overwhelmed, tired, and in a fog. I had several friends say to me, “Oh, don’t worry, you will get back into the groove of motherhood in no time”. While, it didn’t happen … Continue reading

Six Months Post Partum

One year ago I was only fourteen weeks pregnant with my daughter (although I did not know I was pregnant with a girl). I was still wearing all of my pre pregnancy clothes and still in throngs of morning sickness. In a lot of ways I am in the same clothes wearing place now at six months post partum as I was a year ago. At six months post partum, I feel completely back to my pre pregnancy state. All of my clothes fit almost the same as they did before. A few more stretch marks make my clothes fit … Continue reading
