Sammy Hagar Talks Van Halen Reunion

When you hear the name “Sammy Hagar,” you probably think one of two things – “Oh, I loved him with Van Halen” or “Oh, the guy that tried to replace David Lee Roth.” Personally, I fall in the latter category, but you cannot deny that Sammy’s new book “Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock” is interesting if nothing else. In the book, Hagar talks about his almost four decades in rock, including his time as a solo artist and his nine-year tenure with Van Halen. He give juicy backstage details and talks about his Cabo Wabo tequila business and touring … Continue reading

Clifford Irving’s Hoax

I was watching The Hoax yesterday, which starred Richard Gere as author Clifford Irving. A while back, I blogged about writers who faked their stories and came under shame for it once it was revealed to the public. However, I didn’t know about Clifford Irving and his Howard Hughes “autobiography.” Well, I think I had heard of a fake Hughes autobiography, but didn’t know the whole story, which I found quite fascinating after watching the movie. As you may know, by 1958, billionaire Howard Hughes had become a recluse, even refusing to appear in court. This gave Irving an idea. … Continue reading

Starting today, fans, at least those with a lot of money, will be able to start bidding on an unrestored copy of the “Superman and Friends” No. 1 comic book. (This image is in the public domain because it was published in the United States between 1923 and 1963 with a copyright notice, and its copyright was not renewed.) Police Find Ancient Bible in Raid

If you have ever watched “Antiques Roadshow,” you may know that family Bibles from the 18th and 19th century, while beautiful and priceless to the family to which it belongs, aren’t going to be a big payday. The experts on the show say that unless a Bible predates 1550, it isn’t worth much monetarily. However, the police in Cyprus may have found a Bible that would make the “Antique Roadshow” experts quake in their boots. The police in northern Cyprus raided the hideout of suspected antiquity smugglers and found a Bible that has excerpts written in gold lettering on vellum. … Continue reading

Ah, it was the greatest love story that never really happened. You know, when Oprah gives you her stamp of approval, it is a big, big thing. Even as a mere mortal, I know that Oprah has the power to make you or break you, so why would you jeopardize yourself with a lie? (This file, by Alan Light, is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 License) One might ask that of Herman Rosenblat, the author of the yet to be released book “Angel at the Fence.” In case you haven’t heard, the book was to tell the story of … Continue reading

Marcia Brady’s Been a Bad Bad Girl

Maureen McCormick, aka Marcia Brady, is the latest former child star to pen his or her memoirs and boy, does she have a story to tell! While Maureen played Marcia, a peaches and creme perfect teen on “The Brady Bunch,” it seems that real life was – well, a bit different. Maureen’s new book “Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice,” which is hitting the bookstores today, tells a tale of sex and drugs without the rock ‘n roll. Now 52, Maureen even talks about her romance with her onscreen brother Barry Williams. She said they shared a kiss, … Continue reading

Meghan McCain, the daughter of Republican presidential candidate Senator John McCain just announced that like Jenna Bush she is author material and will be writing a children’s book. “I am truly excited about the opportunity to write a children’s book about my father, who is not only a fantastic dad, but also a great American,” the 23-year-old said in a statement earlier this week.
